The story of philip and simon the sorcerer – फिलिप और साइमन जादूगर की कहानी

The story of Philip and Simon the Sorcerer is found in the New Testament of the Bible, in the Book of Acts, chapter 8, verses 9-25:

Philip, one of the seven chosen to serve in the early Christian community, went to Samaria and proclaimed the word of God. Among those who heard him was a man named Simon, who had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed the people with his magical abilities, claiming to be someone great.

When Philip preached about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women believed and were baptized, including Simon. He continued with Philip and was amazed by the signs and great miracles he saw.

However, Peter and John, who were in Jerusalem, heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, so they went down there and prayed for the new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. When Peter and John laid their hands on them, they received the Holy Spirit.

Seeing the power of the Holy Spirit being bestowed through the laying on of hands, Simon offered Peter and John money, saying, “Give me also this power so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

Peter rebuked him sharply, saying, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.”

Simon, realizing the gravity of his mistake, pleaded with Peter to pray for him so that nothing of what Peter had said would happen to him.

After this encounter, Peter and John continued to testify and preach the word of the Lord as they returned to Jerusalem, while Philip continued his ministry in Samaria.
