The story of zacchaeus climbing a tree – जक्कई के पेड़ पर चढ़ने की कहानी

The story of Zacchaeus climbing a tree is found in the New Testament of the Bible, in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 19, verses 1-10.

Zacchaeus was a tax collector in the city of Jericho, and he was a wealthy man. However, he was despised by the people because tax collectors were often seen as dishonest and greedy. Zacchaeus was also short in stature.

One day, Jesus was passing through Jericho, and a large crowd gathered to see him. Zacchaeus was curious about Jesus and wanted to see him, but he couldn’t because of the crowd, and being short, he couldn’t see over them. So, he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore-fig tree to get a better view of Jesus as he passed by.

When Jesus reached the spot where Zacchaeus was, he looked up and saw him in the tree. Jesus called out to him, saying, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” This surprised Zacchaeus, but he obeyed Jesus and came down from the tree.

The people were shocked that Jesus would associate with a tax collector, a sinner in their eyes. But Zacchaeus welcomed Jesus gladly into his home. While they were at Zacchaeus’ house, Zacchaeus said to Jesus, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

Jesus responded by saying, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

This encounter with Jesus transformed Zacchaeus’ life. He not only repented of his sins but also demonstrated his repentance through his actions by giving generously to the poor and making restitution for any wrongs he had done. Jesus’ willingness to show love and acceptance to Zacchaeus despite his past actions is a powerful reminder of God’s grace and forgiveness.
