The story of the Lord speaking to Elijah – एलिजा से बात करने वाले प्रभु की कहानी
The story of the Lord speaking to Elijah is found in the Bible, specifically in the book of 1 Kings, chapter 19.
Elijah had just experienced a great victory over the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, where God sent fire from heaven to consume Elijah’s offering. However, Queen Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, threatened to kill Elijah, so he fled for his life and journeyed into the wilderness.
Feeling exhausted, afraid, and discouraged, Elijah sat down under a broom tree and prayed that he might die. He felt that his efforts had been in vain, and he was the only faithful prophet left in Israel.
While Elijah was resting, an angel of the Lord appeared to him and provided him with food and water, encouraging him to eat and drink. Strengthened by the angel’s provision, Elijah traveled for forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
There, he found a cave and spent the night. The word of the Lord came to him, asking, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Elijah replied, pouring out his heart, saying that he had been very zealous for the Lord, but now he was the only one left, and his life was in danger.
The Lord then instructed Elijah to stand on the mountain, as He was about to pass by. A powerful wind tore through the mountain, followed by an earthquake and then a fire, but the Lord was not in any of these manifestations. After the commotion, there came a gentle whisper.
When Elijah heard the whisper, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went to the entrance of the cave. Again, the Lord asked him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Elijah repeated his previous response.
The Lord then reassured Elijah and gave him specific instructions, including anointing Hazael as king over Aram, Jehu as king over Israel, and Elisha as his successor. God also reminded Elijah that there were still seven thousand faithful Israelites who had not bowed down to Baal.
Through this encounter, Elijah learned that God was still with him, even in the midst of his discouragement and fear. He gained renewed strength and confidence to continue his prophetic ministry, knowing that the Lord was in control and would accomplish His purposes.
