The story of shadrach, meshach, and abednego – शद्रक, मेशक और अबेदनगो की कहानी

The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is found in the Book of Daniel, in the Old Testament of the Bible.

During the time of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, three young Jewish men named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were among the captives taken from Judah to Babylon. They were selected along with other young men to be trained for service in the king’s palace.

The king ordered that everyone should bow down and worship a golden image he had set up when they heard the sound of music. However, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were devout followers of the God of Israel, refused to worship any other god except their own.

Their refusal angered the king, who threatened to throw them into a fiery furnace if they did not comply. But the three men remained steadfast in their faith, telling the king that even if they were thrown into the furnace, their God would be able to deliver them.

Enraged by their defiance, Nebuchadnezzar ordered the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual and had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego bound and thrown into the flames.

As the king watched, expecting them to be consumed by the fire, he was astonished to see four figures walking around in the furnace, unharmed and unbound. Recognizing the fourth figure as an angel of God, Nebuchadnezzar called out to the three men to come out of the fire.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego emerged from the furnace unscathed, not even smelling of smoke. Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged the greatness of their God and decreed that anyone who spoke against their God would be punished, and he promoted the three men to higher positions in his kingdom.

The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego demonstrates the power of faith and the unwavering commitment of these three young men to honor and serve their God, even in the face of severe persecution and death.
