The story of peter’s escape from prison – पीटर के जेल से भागने की कहानी
The story of Peter’s escape from prison is recounted in the New Testament of the Bible, specifically in the Book of Acts, chapter 12.
During the early days of the Christian church, King Herod Agrippa I, seeking to please the Jewish religious leaders, arrested Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples and a prominent figure in the early Christian community. Herod had already executed James, the brother of the Apostle John, and intended to do the same to Peter.
Peter was imprisoned and placed under heavy guard in the innermost part of the prison, with guards posted at the entrance. The night before Peter was to be brought to trial, he was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Additionally, sentries were stationed at the prison gate.
However, during the night, an angel of the Lord appeared in Peter’s cell, and a light shone in the prison. The angel struck Peter on the side and woke him up, instructing him to quickly get up and follow. As Peter followed the angel, the chains fell off his wrists.
Peter, thinking he was seeing a vision, followed the angel out of the prison past the guards and through the iron gate leading to the city. The gate opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and walked down one street, and then the angel left him.
Upon realizing that he was truly free and out of the prison, Peter went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many believers were gathered together praying for him. When Peter knocked at the outer entrance, a servant girl named Rhoda recognized his voice and was so overjoyed that she ran back to tell the others without even opening the door.
Initially, the believers were incredulous, thinking Rhoda was mistaken or that Peter’s appearance was a ghost. However, Peter continued knocking until they finally opened the door and saw him. They were astonished and rejoiced at his miraculous escape from prison.
Peter then instructed them to inform James, the brother of Jesus, and the other believers about his release. Afterward, Peter left Jerusalem and went to another place, avoiding further confrontation with Herod and the authorities.
This story illustrates the miraculous intervention of God on behalf of his faithful servant Peter, demonstrating God’s power to deliver his people from persecution and adversity. It also highlights the importance of prayer and the unity of the early Christian community in times of trial.
