The story of peter recognizing jesus as the messiah – पतरस द्वारा यीशु को मसीहा के रूप में पहचानने की कहानी

The story of Peter recognizing Jesus as the Messiah is a pivotal moment in the New Testament, found in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 16, verses 13-20.

Jesus and his disciples traveled to the region of Caesarea Philippi. While they were there, Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

Then Jesus asked them directly, “But what about you? Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

This declaration by Peter, acknowledging Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the living God, is significant because it demonstrates Peter’s recognition of Jesus’ divine identity. Jesus then affirms Peter’s confession and bestows upon him a position of authority within the community of believers. This event marks a turning point in Jesus’ ministry, as he begins to reveal more openly his identity and mission to his disciples.
