The story of noah ark and the flood – नूह के जहाज़ और बाढ़ की कहानी

The story of Noah’s Ark and the Flood is a biblical narrative found in the Book of Genesis. It is one of the most well-known and enduring stories in religious literature.

The world had become corrupt and violent, and God decided to bring a flood to cleanse the earth. God found favor in Noah, a righteous man among his contemporaries.

God instructed Noah to build an ark to save himself, his family, and a pair of every kind of living creature on the earth. The ark was to be a massive vessel made of gopher wood and coated with pitch, with specific dimensions provided by God.

Noah, along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, began constructing the ark according to God’s instructions. The construction of the ark took many years.

God commanded Noah to gather animals of every kind—male and female—along with enough food to sustain them during the flood. Noah faithfully complied, and the animals entered the ark in pairs.

Once the ark was complete, God told Noah to enter it with his family. Rain fell continuously for 40 days and nights, and the waters of the great deep burst forth, covering the entire earth. The ark, designed to withstand the flood, floated on the surface of the waters. The floodwaters continued to rise, covering even the highest mountains.

After 150 days, the waters began to recede. The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah sent out a dove to see if the waters had receded. The dove returned with an olive leaf, indicating that the floodwaters were diminishing.

After a year and ten days, God instructed Noah to leave the ark with his family and the animals. Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to God in gratitude for their survival.

God made a covenant with Noah, promising never again to destroy the earth with a flood. The rainbow became a sign of this covenant, representing God’s promise.

The story of Noah’s Ark and the Flood is considered both a historical account and a moral lesson. It underscores themes of divine judgment, righteousness, obedience, and the covenant between God and humanity. The narrative has been influential across various religious traditions and cultural interpretations.
