The story of nicodemus visiting jesus – निकुदेमुस के यीशु से मिलने की कहानी
The story of Nicodemus visiting Jesus is found in the Gospel of John, chapter 3, verses 1-21.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a member of the Jewish ruling council (Sanhedrin), and a respected teacher among the Jews. He came to Jesus one night, acknowledging that Jesus was a teacher from God, for no one could perform the signs Jesus was doing unless God was with him.
Jesus replied to Nicodemus, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” Nicodemus was confused, asking how one could be born again when they are old. Jesus explained that being born again was not a physical rebirth, but a spiritual one—a transformation of the heart.
Jesus further explained that just as the wind blows wherever it pleases and cannot be seen, so it is with everyone born of the Spirit. Nicodemus still struggled to understand, so Jesus questioned him about his role as a teacher of Israel and yet not understanding these things. Jesus spoke of earthly things and heavenly things, indicating that He alone had come from heaven and could speak about heavenly matters.
Jesus referenced the story of Moses lifting up the serpent in the wilderness, and explained that just as Moses lifted up the serpent, so the Son of Man must be lifted up. This was a reference to His impending crucifixion, through which those who believed in Him would have eternal life.
Jesus emphasized God’s love for the world, saying, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” He explained that God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it through Him. Jesus made it clear that belief in Him was the key to salvation, stating, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
Jesus spoke about the contrast between light and darkness, explaining that those who do evil hate the light, while those who live by the truth come into the light. He emphasized that those who believe in Him are drawn to the light, for their deeds will be seen as done in God.
This encounter with Nicodemus is significant in revealing Jesus’ teachings on spiritual rebirth, salvation through belief in Him, and God’s love for humanity. It also illustrates the importance of faith and the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing about spiritual transformation.
