The story of moses sin at the waters of meribah – मरीबा के जल में मूसा के पाप की कहानी

The story of Moses’ sin at the waters of Meribah is recounted in the book of Numbers, chapter 20.

The Israelites, under the leadership of Moses, were wandering in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt. They came to the desert of Zin, and there was no water for the community to drink. The people began to quarrel with Moses and Aaron, blaming them for bringing them out of Egypt to die in the wilderness.

Moses and Aaron went to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them. God instructed Moses to take his staff, gather the assembly, and speak to the rock in their presence. Water would then flow from the rock, providing for the people and their livestock.

However, Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly before the rock and said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” Moses then struck the rock twice with his staff, and water gushed out abundantly for the people and their livestock.

God was displeased with Moses’ actions because he did not trust and honor God’s instructions. He had disobeyed God’s command to speak to the rock but instead struck it in anger. As a result, God told Moses and Aaron that they would not lead the Israelites into the Promised Land.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of obedience and trust in God’s instructions. Despite Moses’ great leadership and faithfulness, his lapse in obedience had consequences. It also underscores the severity of sin and the need for humility before God.
