The story of moses in the ark of the bulrush – बुलरश के सन्दूक में मूसा की कहानी
The story of Moses in the Ark of Bulrushes is found in the Book of Exodus in the Bible. It narrates the events surrounding the birth of Moses and his mother’s courageous actions to save him from Pharaoh’s decree.
The story takes place during the time when the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Pharaoh becomes concerned about the growing number of Israelites and orders that all male Hebrew infants be thrown into the Nile River.
Amid this decree, a Levite woman gives birth to a son. Seeing that he is a fine child, she hides him for three months to protect him from Pharaoh’s edict.
When she can no longer hide Moses, the woman makes a waterproof basket or ark using bulrushes and pitch. She places Moses in the basket and sets it among the reeds at the edge of the Nile.
Pharaoh’s daughter comes to the river to bathe and discovers the ark among the reeds. When she opens it, she sees the crying baby Moses and is filled with compassion for him.
Moses’ older sister, who had been watching from a distance, approaches Pharaoh’s daughter and offers to find a Hebrew woman to nurse the child.
Pharaoh’s daughter agrees, and Moses’ sister fetches their own mother to nurse the baby. Pharaoh’s daughter takes Moses into her household, and he grows up as a prince of Egypt.
When Moses is older, he witnesses the harsh treatment of the Hebrew slaves and intervenes, killing an Egyptian taskmaster. Fearing for his life, Moses flees to the land of Midian.
While in Midian, God calls Moses from a burning bush, instructing him to return to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery.
The story of Moses in the Ark of Bulrushes is a tale of God’s providence, a mother’s courage, and the eventual rise of Moses as a key figure in the liberation of the Israelites from Egypt. It sets the stage for Moses’ role as the great leader and lawgiver in the biblical narrative.
