The story of jesus raising the dead – यीशु द्वारा मृतकों को जीवित करने की कहानी
In the Gospels, several accounts highlight Jesus’ divine power and compassion by showing Him raising people from the dead. These miraculous events reveal His authority over life and death, affirming His identity as the Son of God and offering hope to all who believe in Him.
One day, a synagogue leader named Jairus came to Jesus, desperate for help. His twelve-year-old daughter was gravely ill, and he pleaded with Jesus to come and heal her. Jesus agreed and began to follow Jairus to his home. However, along the way, He was delayed by a woman who had been suffering from a bleeding disorder for twelve years. She touched Jesus’ cloak in faith and was instantly healed, leading Jesus to stop and acknowledge her.
During this interruption, messengers arrived from Jairus’ house with devastating news: his daughter had died. They told Jairus not to bother Jesus any further. But Jesus, hearing this, reassured Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
When they arrived at Jairus’ house, they found people mourning and wailing. Jesus said, “Stop wailing; she is not dead but asleep.” The mourners laughed at Him, knowing she was dead. However, Jesus took Peter, John, James, and the child’s parents into the room where the girl lay. He took her by the hand and said, “Child, get up!” Her spirit returned, and she immediately stood up. Jesus instructed them to give her something to eat and ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened. The news of this miracle spread, astonishing everyone.
Another remarkable instance occurred in the town of Nain. As Jesus approached the town gate with His disciples and a large crowd, they encountered a funeral procession. A widow’s only son had died, and she was accompanied by a sizable group of mourners. The loss of her only son left her destitute and vulnerable, amplifying her grief.
When Jesus saw her, His heart went out to her, and He said, “Don’t cry.” He then went up to the bier, touched it, and the bearers stood still. Jesus said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. The crowd was filled with awe and praised God, saying, “A great prophet has appeared among us” and “God has come to help His people.” The news of this miracle spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.
Perhaps the most well-known resurrection miracle performed by Jesus is the raising of Lazarus, which is recorded in the Gospel of John. Lazarus, a dear friend of Jesus, had fallen seriously ill. His sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus, but He delayed His visit, saying, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been dead and in the tomb for four days. Martha went out to meet Him and expressed her faith that if Jesus had been there, her brother would not have died. Jesus assured her that Lazarus would rise again, proclaiming, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” Martha affirmed her belief that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God.
When Mary came to Jesus, she fell at His feet, weeping. Deeply moved by her sorrow and the mourning of the Jews who had come with her, Jesus wept. He then approached the tomb, and despite concerns about the smell, ordered the stone to be rolled away. Jesus prayed aloud, thanking the Father for hearing Him and stating that He did this so the people would believe that God had sent Him. Then, in a loud voice, He called, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man emerged, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus instructed them to take off the grave clothes and let him go.
These stories of Jesus raising the dead demonstrate His divine authority and compassion. They show that He is the source of life and has power over death. Through these miracles, Jesus provided not only physical restoration but also a powerful message of hope and faith for all who believe in Him.
