Seeing the young man’s reaction, Jesus commented on the difficulty for the rich to enter the kingdom of God. He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
His disciples were amazed by this statement and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus responded, “What is impossible with man is possible with God,” emphasizing the power of God’s grace in salvation.
The story concludes with Peter reminding Jesus that he and the other disciples had left everything to follow Him. Jesus reassured them that those who had left homes, family, and possessions for the sake of the kingdom of God would receive many times more in this life and eternal life in the age to come.
