The story of jeremiah writing a message from god – यिर्मयाह द्वारा परमेश्वर का संदेश लिखने की कहानी

The story of Jeremiah writing a message from God is a profound episode in the history of the Hebrew Bible. It illustrates the unwavering commitment of the prophet Jeremiah to convey God’s word to the people of Judah despite immense opposition and personal risk. This narrative is found in the Book of Jeremiah, particularly in chapters 36 and 37.

Jeremiah, often called the “weeping prophet,” lived during a tumultuous period in Judah’s history. His prophetic ministry spanned the reigns of several kings, including Josiah, Jehoiakim, and Zedekiah. Jeremiah’s primary message was one of impending judgment and the call for repentance. He warned that the people’s unfaithfulness and idolatry would lead to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Babylonian exile.

In the fourth year of King Jehoiakim’s reign, around 605 BCE, God commanded Jeremiah to write down all the words He had spoken to him concerning Israel, Judah, and the other nations. The purpose of this was to give the people of Judah one final chance to repent and turn back to God, hoping that they might avoid the coming disaster.

In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah and all the other nations from the time I began speaking to you in the reign of Josiah till now. Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about every disaster I plan to inflict on them, they will each turn from their wicked ways; then I will forgive their wickedness and their sin.”_

Jeremiah called upon his scribe, Baruch, to write down the words as Jeremiah dictated them. This scroll contained all the warnings, judgments, and calls for repentance that God had given Jeremiah over the years.

So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and while Jeremiah dictated all the words the Lord had spoken to him, Baruch wrote them on the scroll.

With the scroll completed, Jeremiah instructed Baruch to go to the Temple and read it aloud to the people of Judah. This reading took place during a day of fasting, ensuring that a large number of people would hear the message.

Then Jeremiah told Baruch, “I am restricted; I am not allowed to go to the Lord’s temple. So you go to the house of the Lord on a day of fasting and read to the people from the scroll the words of the Lord that you wrote as I dictated. Read them to all the people of Judah who come in from their towns.”_

When the officials heard the words of the scroll, they were alarmed and decided to inform King Jehoiakim. They advised Baruch and Jeremiah to hide, anticipating the king’s reaction. When the scroll was read to King Jehoiakim, his response was one of contempt and defiance.

Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire. The king and all his attendants who heard all these words showed no fear, nor did they tear their clothes._

Despite the king’s attempt to destroy God’s word, God commanded Jeremiah to take another scroll and rewrite everything that had been on the first one. Jeremiah and Baruch did as instructed, ensuring that God’s message would endure.

After the king burned the scroll containing the words that Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: “Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah burned up.”_

The story of Jeremiah writing a message from God highlights the resilience of God’s word and the steadfastness of His prophets. Despite the king’s rejection and the destruction of the scroll, Jeremiah’s commitment ensured that God’s message of warning and hope was preserved. This narrative serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of faithfulness and the enduring nature of divine truth.
