The story of fifteen years added to hezekiah’s life – हिजकिय्याह के जीवन में जुड़े पंद्रह वर्षों की कहानी
The story of Fifteen Years Added to Hezekiah’s Life is found in the Bible, specifically in the book of 2 Kings 20:1-11 and Isaiah 38:1-8.
King Hezekiah of Judah fell ill and was close to death. The prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, came to him and delivered a message from the Lord, instructing Hezekiah to put his affairs in order because he would not recover from his illness.
Hezekiah, distressed by this news, turned his face to the wall and prayed earnestly to the Lord, reminding God of his faithfulness and righteous conduct. He wept bitterly and pleaded with God to remember him and spare his life.
Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him, instructing him to return to Hezekiah with a message. Isaiah conveyed God’s response, telling Hezekiah that the Lord had heard his prayer and seen his tears. God promised to add fifteen years to Hezekiah’s life and to deliver him and the city of Jerusalem from the hand of the Assyrian king.
As a sign of confirmation, Isaiah instructed Hezekiah to prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil on his body. Hezekiah did as instructed, and he recovered from his illness.
Additionally, as a further confirmation of God’s promise, Hezekiah asked for a sign. He requested that the shadow on the stairway of Ahaz go backward ten steps as a sign that he would go up to the house of the Lord. God granted his request, causing the shadow to move backward ten steps.
This story illustrates God’s sovereignty and His responsiveness to the prayers of His faithful servants. It also highlights Hezekiah’s faith and trust in God, as well as the importance of prayer and seeking God’s mercy and intervention in times of need.
