The story of catching fish with jesus – यीशु के साथ मछली पकड़ने की कहानी

The story of Jesus helping His disciples catch a miraculous number of fish is found in two key passages in the New Testament: Luke 5:1-11 and John 21:1-14. Both accounts describe significant moments where Jesus demonstrates His divine authority and calls His followers to a higher purpose.

Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret (Sea of Galilee), teaching a crowd. As the crowd pressed in on Him, He saw two boats by the shore. The fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Jesus got into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon Peter, and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Jesus sat down and taught the people from the boat.

After speaking, Jesus told Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon Peter responded, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. They signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” He and his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken. Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So, they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything, and followed Him.

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared again to His disciples by the Sea of Galilee. This event occurred when several disciples, including Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, the sons of Zebedee, and two others were together. Simon Peter said, “I’m going out to fish,” and the others joined him. They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize it was Him. He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” They answered, “No.” Jesus said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

The disciple whom Jesus loved (John) said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say this, he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals with fish on it, and some bread.

Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was the third time Jesus appeared to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.

Jesus demonstrates His power over nature. Jesus calls His followers to a new mission, symbolically turning them from fishermen to “fishers of men.” Jesus provides abundantly for His followers, both in their immediate needs and in their calling. The risen Jesus seeks to restore and fellowship with His disciples, confirming His identity and mission.

These accounts underscore the transformative power of encountering Jesus and the call to follow Him wholeheartedly.
