According to the accounts, after the Last Supper, Jesus and his disciples went to the Garden of Gethsemane, a place on the Mount of Olives. Jesus, knowing the imminent events, went further into the garden to pray. He took Peter, James, and John with him and asked them to keep watch while he prayed.

In deep anguish, Jesus prayed to God, expressing his willingness to go through with the upcoming suffering if it was God’s will. Jesus, however, instructed Peter to put away his sword, saying, “Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?” Jesus then willingly surrendered to the authorities, signifying his acceptance of God’s plan for his sacrificial death.
