The story of abraham and lot dividing the land – इब्राहीम और लूत द्वारा भूमि को विभाजित करने की कहानी
The story of Abraham and Lot dividing the land is found in the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament of the Bible, specifically in Genesis 13:1-18.
Both Abraham and his nephew Lot had acquired large flocks, herds, and tents. Due to their wealth, the land could not support all their livestock if they remained together.
The herdsmen of Abraham and Lot began to quarrel with each other over grazing rights and water sources. The disputes threatened the harmony between the two families.
Sensing the need to avoid further conflict, Abraham proposes a peaceful solution. He suggests that they part ways and gives Lot the choice of any part of the land he desires to settle in.
Lot surveys the land and chooses the well-watered plain of the Jordan River, which was lush and fertile like the garden of the Lord. Lot sets out toward the east, separating from his uncle Abraham.
Despite being the elder and having the right to choose first, Abraham graciously allows Lot to make his choice first. Abraham remains in the land of Canaan, dwelling in the region near Hebron.
After Lot separates from Abraham, God renews His promise to Abraham, saying, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north, south, east, and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.”
Encouraged by God’s promise, Abraham moves his tent and settles near the oaks of Mamre in Hebron, where he builds an altar to worship the Lord.
This story illustrates Abraham’s wisdom, humility, and generosity in resolving conflicts peacefully. It also highlights God’s faithfulness in fulfilling His promises to Abraham and his descendants. Despite parting ways with Lot, Abraham’s faith in God’s provision remains unwavering, and he continues to trust in God’s guidance for his journey.
