The god who sees me – वह परमेश्वर जो मुझे देखता है

The phrase “The God Who Sees Me” comes from the story of Hagar in the book of Genesis in the Old Testament of the Bible. Here is a summary of the story:

Hagar was an Egyptian slave serving as a maidservant to Sarah, the wife of Abraham. Sarah was unable to conceive a child, so she suggested that Abraham have a child with Hagar as a way to build their family. Hagar became pregnant with Abraham’s child, and tensions arose between her and Sarah.

As the situation grew more difficult, Hagar decided to flee from Sarah’s presence. Alone and desolate, she found herself in the wilderness. While there, an angel of the Lord appeared to her and told her to return to Sarah and submit to her authority.

The angel also made a promise to Hagar, saying that she would bear a son and that he would be the father of a great nation. The angel instructed her to name her son Ishmael, which means “God hears,” as a reminder that God had seen her affliction and heard her cry.

Overwhelmed by this encounter with God, Hagar declared, “You are the God who sees me,” emphasizing the comforting truth that God saw her in her distress and intervened on her behalf. She recognized that God was aware of her circumstances and had compassion on her.

Hagar obeyed the angel’s instructions and returned to Sarah. In due time, she gave birth to Ishmael, and God fulfilled His promise to make Ishmael the father of a great nation.

The story of Hagar demonstrates God’s care and compassion for the marginalized, the oppressed, and those who feel unseen. It reveals God’s willingness to intervene in difficult situations and provide hope and comfort. It serves as a reminder that God is not distant or indifferent but is intimately aware of our struggles and actively involved in our lives.

The phrase “The God Who Sees Me” has since become a powerful affirmation of God’s presence and concern for His people, assuring us that even in our most difficult moments, we are not alone. It serves as a reminder to trust in God’s faithfulness and seek His guidance and comfort in all circumstances.
