The fall of jericho story – जेरिको के पतन की कहानी
The Fall of Jericho is a biblical story found in the book of Joshua. It recounts the conquest of the city of Jericho by the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua after their forty years of wandering in the wilderness.
According to the story, Jericho was a heavily fortified city with massive walls surrounding it. The Israelites, led by Joshua, were instructed by God to conquer the city. The plan outlined by God involved a unique strategy.
For six consecutive days, the Israelites marched silently around the city once, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, a sacred chest containing the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments. Seven priests blew trumpets made from ram’s horns as they marched. However, no one spoke a word.
On the seventh day, the Israelites marched around the city seven times, and at the sound of a long trumpet blast, the people shouted at the top of their lungs. Miraculously, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites rushed into the city, conquering it. They destroyed everything in the city, sparing only Rahab and her family, who had assisted the Israelite spies.
The story portrays the miraculous intervention of God in the conquest of Jericho. It signifies the faith and obedience of the Israelites in following God’s instructions, even when the strategy seemed unconventional. The fall of Jericho served as a significant victory for the Israelites as they began their conquest of the Promised Land.
