Story of selling joseph – जोसेफ को बेचने की कहानी

In the biblical narrative, Joseph, the favored son of Jacob and Rachel, faces a dramatic turn of events due to the jealousy of his brothers. His story unfolds as follows:

Joseph’s father, Jacob, gifted him a richly ornamented coat, which only fueled his brothers’ envy and resentment. Joseph’s dreams, which foretold his future supremacy over his family, added to their growing bitterness. In one of these dreams, Joseph envisioned himself as a leader and his brothers bowing to him, further aggravating their jealousy.

One day, Jacob sent Joseph to check on his brothers who were grazing the flocks in Shechem. Upon arriving, Joseph’s brothers saw him approaching in his distinctive coat and hatched a plan to get rid of him. They initially plotted to kill him, but Reuben, the eldest brother, intervened, persuading them to throw Joseph into a nearby pit instead, intending to rescue him later.

While Joseph was in the pit, a caravan of Ishmaelite traders passed by. Seizing the opportunity, Joseph’s brothers decided to sell him as a slave to the traders. They sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver, and he was taken to Egypt.

To cover up their actions, the brothers dipped Joseph’s coat in goat’s blood and presented it to their father, Jacob. Believing Joseph to be dead, Jacob mourned deeply, grieving the loss of his beloved son.

Joseph’s journey in Egypt would lead to a series of remarkable events, including his rise to power in Pharaoh’s court and the eventual reconciliation with his family. His story is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the unexpected ways in which one’s destiny can unfold.
