Story of philip and the ethiopian – फिलिप और इथियोपिया की कहानी

The story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch is found in the Book of Acts in the New Testament, specifically in Acts 8:26-40.

Philip, one of the seven chosen to serve as deacons in the early Christian community, received guidance from an angel of the Lord to go south from Jerusalem to Gaza. On his way, Philip encountered an Ethiopian eunuch, a high-ranking official in charge of the treasury of the Queen of the Ethiopians.

The eunuch had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning home in his chariot, reading aloud from the book of Isaiah. The Spirit prompted Philip to approach the chariot, and when he asked the Ethiopian if he understood what he was reading, the eunuch replied that he needed someone to guide him.

The passage he was reading was from Isaiah 53, a Messianic prophecy about a suffering servant. Philip used this opportunity to explain the gospel of Jesus Christ, starting from that Scripture and proclaiming Jesus as the fulfillment of the prophecy.

As they continued the journey, they came across some water, and the eunuch asked to be baptized if he believed in Jesus as the Son of God. Philip agreed, baptized the Ethiopian, and when they came up out of the water, Philip was suddenly taken away by the Spirit, and the eunuch did not see him again.

The Ethiopian eunuch, filled with joy, continued on his way, and tradition holds that he became one of the early converts who brought Christianity to Ethiopia. This story illustrates the inclusivity of the gospel message, reaching beyond cultural and social barriers, and the immediate response to God’s prompting by Philip.
