Story of peter & cornelius – पीटर और कुरनेलियुस की कहानी

The story of Peter and Cornelius is a significant event in the New Testament, specifically in the Book of Acts (Acts 10:1-48). Here is a summary of the story:

Cornelius, a Roman centurion, was a devout and God-fearing man who regularly prayed and gave to the poor. One day, he had a vision in which an angel instructed him to send for Peter, who was staying in Joppa.

Around the same time, Peter had a vision of a large sheet coming down from heaven containing various animals, both clean and unclean. A voice told Peter to kill and eat, but Peter, being a devout Jew, refused, stating that he had never eaten anything impure.

The voice responded that what God had made clean, Peter should not consider impure. This happened three times, and as Peter pondered the meaning of the vision, Cornelius’ messengers arrived, inviting him to come to Cornelius’ house.

Peter, realizing the broader significance of his vision, went with them to Caesarea, where Cornelius eagerly awaited him. It was a groundbreaking moment because, according to Jewish customs, associating with Gentiles was discouraged.

Upon meeting Cornelius and his household, Peter began to speak about Jesus. While he was speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon Cornelius and all who were present, just as it had with the Jewish believers at Pentecost. Witnessing this, Peter understood that God shows no partiality and declared that Gentiles, too, could receive the Holy Spirit and be baptized.

This event marked a crucial turning point, emphasizing the inclusion of Gentiles in the Christian community without the need for them to adhere to Jewish customs. It highlighted the universality of the gospel message and the acceptance of all who believe in Jesus Christ, regardless of their background.
