Story of nativity of jesus – यीशु के जन्म की कहानी
The Nativity of Jesus, also known as the Christmas story, is one of the most beloved and widely celebrated events in Christianity.
The story begins with the Angel Gabriel visiting Mary, a young virgin betrothed to Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth. Gabriel tells Mary that she has been chosen by God to bear a son who will be the Son of God and Savior of the world. Mary, known for her humility and faith, accepts God’s will.
Joseph learns of Mary’s pregnancy and, initially troubled, considers quietly divorcing her. However, an angel appears to him in a dream, reassuring him that Mary’s child is conceived by the Holy Spirit and instructing him to take Mary as his wife.
Around the time of Mary’s due date, the Roman Emperor Augustus decrees a census, requiring everyone to return to their ancestral towns to register. Joseph, being of the house of David, must travel with Mary from Nazareth to Bethlehem, the city of David.
Upon their arrival in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph find no room in the inns due to the crowded conditions. They take refuge in a humble stable, where Mary gives birth to Jesus, wrapping him in swaddling clothes and laying him in a manger, a feeding trough for animals.
Nearby, shepherds tending their flocks receive a divine message from an angel proclaiming the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem. Overwhelmed with awe and joy, the shepherds hurry to find the newborn baby, witnessing the fulfillment of the angel’s prophecy.
Far away in the East, wise men, or Magi, observe a miraculous star that leads them to Bethlehem. Recognizing the significance of the star, they follow it and arrive in Bethlehem, where they present gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the infant Jesus, symbolizing his kingship, divinity, and sacrificial death.
Warned in a dream of King Herod’s intention to harm the child, Joseph takes Mary and Jesus and flees to Egypt, where they remain until Herod’s death. This event fulfills the prophecy, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
After Herod’s death, Joseph, Mary, and Jesus return to Israel and settle in Nazareth, fulfilling another prophecy that Jesus would be called a Nazarene.
The Nativity story is a testament to God’s love and salvation plan for humanity, fulfilled through the birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah and Savior. It serves as the cornerstone of the Christian faith and is celebrated with joy and reverence by millions of believers around the world each year at Christmas.
