Story of naaman is healed – नामान के उपचार की कहानी
The story of Naaman’s healing is found in the Old Testament of the Bible, specifically in the Book of 2 Kings, chapter 5. It is a narrative of healing, faith, and humility.
Naaman was a commander of the army of Aram (also known as Syria) during the time of the prophet Elisha. He was a respected and powerful military leader but suffered from a skin disease, traditionally described as leprosy. Leprosy was a dreaded and incurable disease in ancient times, often leading to social isolation and stigmatization.
One day, a young Israelite girl who had been captured and served in Naaman’s household as a maid told her mistress about a prophet in Samaria (a region in Israel) who could heal Naaman’s skin disease. The servant girl’s message reached Naaman, and he decided to seek healing in Israel.
Naaman went to his king, the King of Aram, and informed him of his intention to visit the prophet in Israel. The king agreed and sent a letter of recommendation to the King of Israel, along with lavish gifts, in the hope that Naaman would be healed.
Upon receiving the letter from the King of Aram, the King of Israel was troubled and felt unable to heal Naaman’s disease. However, Elisha, the prophet, heard about the situation and sent a message to the King of Israel, instructing him to send Naaman to him.
Naaman arrived at Elisha’s house with his horses and chariots, expecting a grand and dramatic healing ceremony. However, Elisha did not come out to meet him personally. Instead, he sent a messenger who instructed Naaman to go and wash in the Jordan River seven times. Naaman was initially furious and offended by what he perceived as a simple and humiliating task.
Naaman’s servants urged him to heed Elisha’s instructions. They reminded him that if Elisha had asked him to perform a great and challenging task, he would have done it without hesitation. So, Naaman humbled himself, went to the Jordan River, and dipped himself seven times, just as Elisha had directed.
As Naaman emerged from the river after the seventh time, his skin was miraculously restored, and he was completely healed of his skin disease. His flesh became like that of a young boy.
Overwhelmed by the healing, Naaman returned to Elisha, confessed his faith in the God of Israel, and offered him gifts as an expression of gratitude. He declared that he would no longer worship any other gods but the Lord.
The story of Naaman’s healing serves as a powerful illustration of God’s healing power and the importance of humility and obedience in receiving God’s blessings. Naaman, a powerful and respected military leader, had to humble himself and follow the prophet’s simple instructions to experience healing and faith in the God of Israel.
