Story of joseph in prison – जेल में जोसेफ की कहानी

The story of Joseph in prison is found in the Book of Genesis, particularly in Genesis chapters 39 to 41. Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel, was favored by his father, which created jealousy among his brothers. His brothers sold him into slavery, and he ended up in Egypt, where he was bought by Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard.

Joseph served in Potiphar’s house faithfully and found favor with him. However, Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph of attempting to seduce her when he resisted her advances. As a result, Joseph was unjustly thrown into prison.

Even in prison, Joseph continued to show integrity and was put in charge of certain responsibilities. While in prison, he interpreted the dreams of two fellow prisoners: the chief cupbearer and the chief baker. The interpretations accurately foretold the fate of each man.

Later, Pharaoh had troubling dreams that none of his wise men could interpret. The chief cupbearer remembered Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams and informed Pharaoh about him. Joseph was brought out of prison to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams, which he did successfully. Pharaoh was impressed by Joseph’s wisdom, and he elevated him to a position of great authority, making him second in command over all of Egypt.

Joseph’s time in prison was a crucial part of his journey, as it ultimately led to his rise to power and his role in saving Egypt and his own family during a severe famine. The story illustrates themes of resilience, faithfulness, and God’s providence in the face of adversity.
