Upon hearing the news, Jesus turned to Jairus and said, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” He continued on to Jairus’ house, allowing only Peter, James, John, and the girl’s parents to accompany Him.
When Jesus entered the house, He found people mourning and weeping for the girl. He assured them that the girl was not dead but asleep. They laughed at Him, but He took the girl by the hand and said, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!” Immediately, the girl arose and walked.
Jesus ordered that the girl be given something to eat and instructed her parents not to tell anyone about the miracle. However, the news of the miraculous healing spread throughout the region.
