He asked God to show kindness to Abraham by causing the woman who offered to draw water for him and his camels to be Isaac’s chosen wife. Rebekah, the granddaughter of Abraham’s brother, Nahor, came to the well to draw water. She not only provided water for the servant but also offered to water his camels, fulfilling the servant’s request.
The servant learned that Rebekah was the daughter of Bethuel, Abraham’s nephew. He presented her with gifts of jewelry and asked if he could stay at her family’s house. Upon hearing Rebekah’s story and the servant’s purpose, her family recognized God’s hand in the matter and agreed to the marriage proposal. Rebekah herself consented to marry Isaac when she learned about him.
After obtaining the consent of Rebekah and her family, the servant returned to Canaan with Rebekah, accompanied by her maidservants. Isaac, who was meditating in the field, saw them approaching and went out to meet them. Upon learning that Rebekah was his chosen wife, Isaac took her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and she became his wife. Isaac loved Rebekah, and she brought him comfort after the death of his mother.
