d. Abraham obeyed God’s call to go to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, even though he did not know where he was going. He lived as a foreigner in the promised land, looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
e. Sarah, despite her old age and barrenness, was enabled to conceive a child because she considered God faithful who had promised.
f. The chapter also mentions individuals such as Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets, all of whom exercised faith in various ways.
The chapter concludes by affirming that these individuals, though they died without receiving the fullness of God’s promises, saw them from a distance and welcomed them, acknowledging that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. They desired a better country, a heavenly one, and God has prepared a city for them.
