Story of cain and abel – कैन और हाबिल की कहानी
The story of Cain and Abel is a poignant tale from the Bible that explores themes of jealousy, sin, and the consequences of wrongdoing.
Cain and Abel were the first two sons of Adam and Eve, the first human beings created by God. Cain was the elder brother, and Abel was the younger.
Both brothers made offerings to God. Cain, a farmer, brought fruits of the soil as his offering, while Abel, a shepherd, offered the best of his flock—fat portions from the firstborn lambs. God favored Abel’s offering but did not regard Cain’s offering with the same favor.
Cain became very angry and dejected because of God’s preference for Abel’s offering. God spoke to Cain, warning him that sin was crouching at his door, and urged him to master it.
Despite the warning, Cain’s jealousy and anger grew. One day, while they were in the field, Cain lured Abel and then killed him. This act of fratricide marked the first murder recorded in the Bible.
Afterward, God confronted Cain, asking him where Abel was. Cain responded with the famous line, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” God revealed that He knew what Cain had done and that Abel’s blood cried out from the ground.
As a punishment, God cursed Cain, making the ground no longer yield good crops for him and marking him as a wanderer on the earth. To protect him from being killed by others, God put a mark on Cain to ensure he would be safe despite his punishment.
The story of Cain and Abel serves as a powerful lesson about the destructive nature of envy, the consequences of sin, and the importance of accepting personal responsibility for one’s actions.
