Story of bread of life – जीवन की रोटी की कहानी

The “Bread of Life” story is a significant teaching of Jesus found in the New Testament of the Bible, specifically in the Gospel of John, chapter 6, verses 22-71. It is a powerful metaphor used by Jesus to explain His role as the source of spiritual nourishment and eternal life.

* Feeding the Multitude: The “Bread of Life” story begins with Jesus performing the miracle of feeding a large crowd of people with just five barley loaves and two fish. After the miraculous feeding of the five thousand, the people were amazed and sought Jesus.

* Seeking Physical Bread: The next day, the crowd followed Jesus to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. They were seeking Him not because they understood the significance of the miracle but because they wanted more free food.

* The Bread of Life Discourse: In response to their materialistic motives, Jesus took the opportunity to teach them a profound spiritual lesson. He told them not to work for food that perishes but for the food that endures to eternal life, which He, the Son of Man, would give them.

* Jesus as the Bread of Life: Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). He was using bread as a metaphor to illustrate that just as physical bread sustains physical life, He is the source of spiritual nourishment and eternal life.

* The Jews’ Misunderstanding: The Jews were perplexed by Jesus’ claim and questioned how He could be the bread that came down from heaven since they knew His earthly origins. They failed to grasp the spiritual dimension of His words.

* The True Bread from Heaven: Jesus further explained that He is the living bread that came down from heaven, and those who eat of this bread will live forever. He emphasized the necessity of believing in Him to partake in the eternal life He offers.

* Spiritual Transformation: Jesus explained that just as eating physical bread sustains the body, partaking in Him through faith results in spiritual transformation and a personal relationship with God. He likened it to consuming His flesh and blood, using symbolic language that later became associated with the sacrament of the Holy Communion.

* Offense and Departure: Some of the people found Jesus’ teachings hard to accept, and many of His disciples turned away, unable to understand the spiritual depth of His message.

* Peter’s Confession: When Jesus asked His twelve disciples if they would also leave, Peter responded with a powerful confession of faith, saying, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.

The “Bread of Life” story is a profound revelation of Jesus’ identity as the Savior and the source of spiritual nourishment and eternal life. It emphasizes the importance of coming to Him in faith, believing in His sacrificial work, and maintaining a personal relationship with Him to receive the fullness of God’s gift of eternal life.
