Story of abraham giving isaac to god – इब्राहीम द्वारा इसहाक को भगवान को सौंपने की कहानी

The story of Abraham giving Isaac to God is one of the most profound and challenging narratives in the Bible, often referred to as the “Binding of Isaac” or “Akedah” in Hebrew. It is found in Genesis 22.

Abraham, originally Abram, was a faithful servant of God who had been promised by God that he would be the father of a great nation. After many years of waiting, Abraham and his wife Sarah had a son, Isaac, who was the child of the promise.

God tested Abraham’s faith with a profound challenge. He commanded Abraham to take his beloved son Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him as a burnt offering on a mountain that God would show him. This was a significant test of Abraham’s faith and obedience, as Isaac was the child through whom God’s promises were to be fulfilled.

Without hesitation, Abraham obeyed God’s command. Early the next morning, he prepared for the journey, taking Isaac and two servants with him. They traveled to the designated mountain, with Abraham carrying the wood for the burnt offering, and Isaac carrying the fire and the knife.

As they ascended the mountain, Isaac noticed that they had the fire and the wood but no lamb for the offering. Isaac asked his father, “Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham replied, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” (Genesis 22:7-8)

When they reached the place that God had indicated, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. He then bound Isaac and placed him on the altar. As Abraham raised the knife to sacrifice his son, an angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, stopping him from proceeding.

The angel said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” (Genesis 22:12) Abraham then saw a ram caught in a thicket by its horns and offered the ram as a burnt offering in place of Isaac.

After the offering, the angel of the Lord spoke to Abraham again, reaffirming the promises made to him. God promised that because Abraham had not withheld his son, his only son, He would bless Abraham and multiply his descendants as the stars of heaven and the sand on the seashore. His descendants would possess the gates of their enemies, and through his offspring, all nations of the earth would be blessed.

The story highlights themes of faith, obedience, and trust in God. It underscores Abraham’s willingness to surrender his most cherished possession in obedience to God, demonstrating his profound faith. It also foreshadows the concept of substitutionary sacrifice, which is seen as a precursor to the later Christian understanding of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death.

The story can be found in Genesis 22:1-19 and is considered a pivotal moment in the Abrahamic faith traditions.
