O Lord, my God, help me to lift my eyes to you as you are the source of all help. In my sadness of heart, may I know that you are closer than the closest friend to me. Help me to walk with you on the path of light and life. Keep me close to you and prevent me from wandering.

Take me eyes off the fleeting pleasures of the world and fix them on your eternal joy. Help me have an eternal perspective on my life that view my circumstances as light and temporary afflictions when compared to the weight of glory that awaits me. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
