Jesus affirms Peter’s confession, stating that Peter is blessed because this revelation did not come from human wisdom but from God himself. However, this declaration also sets the stage for Jesus to reveal to his disciples that he must suffer, be rejected, and die before being raised to life. Peter, upon hearing this, rebukes Jesus, prompting Jesus to rebuke him in return, saying, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
