Jesus is buried story – यीशु को दफनाया गया है कहानी

The story of Jesus’ burial is a significant event in Christian theology and is recorded in the New Testament of the Bible, particularly in the Gospels of Matthew (Matthew 27:57-61), Mark (Mark 15:42-47), Luke (Luke 23:50-56), and John (John 19:38-42).

Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy and devout man who was also a member of the Jewish council (the Sanhedrin), went to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, to request permission to take Jesus’ body for burial.

Nicodemus, another member of the Sanhedrin and a secret follower of Jesus, joined Joseph in preparing Jesus’ body for burial. They brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about 75 pounds in weight, to anoint Jesus’ body.

The Roman soldiers, upon receiving Pilate’s permission, took Jesus down from the cross.

Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus wrapped Jesus’ body in linen cloths along with the spices and laid him in a new tomb. This tomb was a cave-like structure, and it had a large stone rolled across its entrance.

After Jesus’ body was placed in the tomb, the entrance was sealed with a large stone, and Roman guards were posted to ensure its security.

The burial of Jesus took place quickly because it was the day of preparation for the Jewish Sabbath, and no work, including burial preparations, was permitted on the Sabbath day. The women who had followed Jesus and wanted to anoint his body with additional spices and perfumes were unable to do so immediately and planned to return after the Sabbath.

The burial of Jesus is a pivotal event in Christian theology because it marks the fulfillment of the prophecy that the Messiah would be “assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death” (Isaiah 53:9). It also serves as the prelude to the most central event in Christianity, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is celebrated on Easter Sunday.

The burial of Jesus symbolizes his identification with the human experience, including death, as well as the fulfillment of his redemptive mission. It is a moment of mourning for his disciples and followers but also anticipates the hope of his eventual victory over death.
