Jesus cleans out the temple story – यीशु ने मंदिर को साफ़ किया कहानी
Jesus had arrived in Jerusalem and went straight to the temple. As He entered the temple courts, He saw something that filled Him with righteous anger. The temple, a place meant for worship and prayer, had been turned into a marketplace. There were people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.
Jesus was outraged at what He saw. With a determined purpose, He made a whip out of cords and began driving out all those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. In a powerful voice, He declared, “It is written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
The temple officials and merchants were shocked and angered by Jesus’ actions, but they were also fearful because of His authority and the truth in His words. The people in the temple were astonished by His boldness and zeal for God’s house.
As He cleansed the temple, Jesus was fulfilling the prophecy that said, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” His actions were a clear statement that the temple was to be a holy place, dedicated to God and not for dishonest gain.
After driving out the merchants and money changers, Jesus began to teach the people who gathered around Him. He healed the blind and the lame who came to Him in the temple. The chief priests and teachers of the law saw the wonderful things He did and heard the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” and they were indignant.
They asked Him, “Do you hear what these children are saying?”
“Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, ‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”
This event showed not only Jesus’ authority but also His deep commitment to the true purpose of worship. He demonstrated that worship should be pure and focused on God, not tainted by commercial interests and greed. Jesus’ actions in the temple were a profound reminder of the sanctity of worship and the need for sincerity and reverence in the house of God.
